Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university (any discipline) for general posts; some posts need a specific qualification (e.g. LLB for law-related posts, B.Ed./teaching experience for Principal posts).

When is the UPPSC PCS 2026 Prelims?
6 December 2026, in two shifts — General Studies Paper I from 9:30 to 11:30 AM and CSAT (Paper II) from 2:30 to 4:30 PM — as per the Commission's exam calendar. Admit cards are usually released one to two weeks before.
How many vacancies are there in UPPSC PCS 2026?
About 500 posts were notified on 25 June 2026 across Deputy Collector, DSP, BDO, Treasury Officer, Commercial Tax Officer, Naib Tehsildar, Sub-Registrar and other Group A/B services. The Commission may revise the number by corrigendum.
What is the UPPSC Prelims pattern?
Two objective papers on the same day: Paper I General Studies (150 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours) which decides who qualifies for Mains, and Paper II CSAT (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours) which is qualifying with a minimum of 33%. Both carry 1/3 negative marking.
Is UPPSC Prelims marks counted in the final merit?
No. Prelims is only a screening test. The final merit is prepared on 1,600 marks — 1,500 from the eight Mains papers and 100 from the interview.
What is the UPPSC Mains pattern?
Eight descriptive papers of 3 hours each: General Hindi (150), Essay (150) and General Studies I–VI (200 each), totalling 1,500 marks. GS-V and GS-VI are Uttar Pradesh-specific papers.
What is the age limit for UPPSC PCS 2026?
21 to 40 years as on 1 July 2026 for general candidates; up to 45 for SC/ST/OBC of UP and UP government employees; up to 55 for persons with disability.
What is the UPPSC application fee?
₹125 for General/EWS/OBC, ₹65 for SC/ST of UP and ex-servicemen, ₹25 for persons with disability. One-Time Registration on uppsc.up.nic.in is required before applying.
What was the last official UPPSC Prelims cut-off?
For PCS 2023 (Paper I, out of 200): 125 for unreserved, 124 for unreserved women, 128 for OBC, 112 for SC and 109 for ST. Later cycles' cut-offs are released with the final result.
How much Uttar Pradesh-specific content does the exam have?
