When is the 72nd BPSC Prelims 2026?
The revised exam calendar (14 August 2026) schedules the 72nd BPSC CCE Prelims for 25 October 2026. The original date of 26 July 2026 was postponed. Treat the date as tentative until the admit card is released on bpsc.bihar.gov.in.
How many vacancies are there in 72nd BPSC?
About 1,186 posts after the Commission withdrew 44 Sugarcane Officer posts from the original 1,230 (a few notices cite 1,189). Revenue Officer (365), Cooperative Extension Officer (130), Sub-Divisional Protection Officer (101) and SDO/Sr. Deputy Collector (100) are the largest groups.
What is the 72nd BPSC Prelims exam pattern?
One objective General Studies paper of 150 questions for 150 marks in 2 hours, with 1/3 mark negative marking. Prelims is only a screening stage; about ten times the number of vacancies qualify for Mains.
Is there negative marking in BPSC Prelims?
Yes. One-third (0.33) of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Leaving a question blank costs nothing.
What is the BPSC Mains pattern and which papers count?
General Hindi (100, qualifying), GS Paper I (300), GS Paper II (300), Essay (300) and an objective optional paper (100, qualifying). Only 900 marks (GS-I, GS-II, Essay) plus the 120-mark interview count towards the final merit of 1,020.
What is the age limit for 72nd BPSC?
Counted as on 1 August 2026: unreserved men up to 37 years; unreserved women, BC and EBC up to 40; SC/ST up to 42. Minimum age is 20, 21 or 22 depending on the post.
What was the 71st BPSC Prelims cut-off?
The official 71st BPSC Prelims cut-off (out of 150) was 88 for unreserved men, 78 for unreserved women, 82.33 EWS, 84 BC, 81 EBC, 72 SC and 71.33 ST. Earlier cycles (68th–70th) had UR cut-offs of about 91.
How much of the BPSC Prelims paper is Bihar-specific?
